Review: Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen (SPF50+ PA+++)

The importance of wearing sunscreen. Are you wearing sunscreen right now? If you are not, you should be! It is best to use a sunscreen which offers UVA and UVB protection.

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen offers both UVA (PA+++) and UVB (SPF50) protection. This sunscreen from Biore is part of line made specifically for their Japanese market.

This is the ingredient analysis on cosDNA

There are both good and not-so-good ingredients found in this sunscreen.

Sodium Hyaluronate - good moisturizer, does a great job attracting and maintaining water in the skin.

Citrus - rich in Vitamin C, a good antioxidant with brightening properties.

Alcohol - a bit of a controversial ingredient, do not use this if you are allergic to products containing alcohol.

Fragrance - a not-so-good ingredient, but oh well it really depends on how sensitive your skin is.

RM 32.90 / 50g
(I bought it from Japan for 730 yen - approx. RM 22.00)

Packaging

It comes in a light blue, soft plastic tube. The tip is a standard nozzle. Nothing fancy, but it functions well.

Review

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen comes with SPF50 / PA+++. Anything above SPF50 blocks 98% of UVB rays. In terms of PA ranking, the highest I have seen in the market is PA++++. Therefore, this sunscreen with PA+++ efficiently blocks a decent amount of UVA rays.

What I love most about this sunscreen is its texture. Upon squeezing it out from the tip, it appears to be slightly thick. However, upon application, it instantly turns into something very watery. This makes it really easy to apply.

Another thing I love about this Biore sunscreen is the end result. It doesn't leave a white cast on your skin. It has a matte finish with no sticky feeling at all. Because of its "barely there" finish, sometimes I wonder if I even applied enough at all. This product serves as a good base for my makeup.

This sunscreen is also water-based. It is extremely lightweight and doesn't clog my pores.

I tend to sleep till the very last minute before having to wake up for work. I only allocate 15 minutes in the morning for my skincare and makeup, that is why I try to keep my routine as simple as possible.

Here is my morning skincare and makeup routine:

Step 1: Cleanse my face with a foam cleanser
Step 2: Apply Missha facial treatment essence
Step 3: Apply Etude House toner
Step 4: Apply moisturizer / essence
Step 5: Apply Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen
Step 6: Apply Innisfree BB Cream
Step 7: Proceed with the rest of my makeup

It is good to note that this Biore sunscreen doesn't state anywhere that is it waterproof or sweatproof, so I wouldn't encourage using this if you are going to spend a sweaty day at a sunny beach. Still its a great product to use for normal day-to-day activities. I applied this once for an outdoor event and it worked great. There was no air-conditioning, weather was hot and humid, I walked around quite a bit under the sun - but my makeup stayed on all day and did not run or melt.
