Review: Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil

crystalxoxo.blogspot.com

Okay, so here is another review on cleansing oils. Double cleansing has been a part of my skincare routine for years now. I have always been using DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. It's gentle, removes my makeup completely, I love it.

But since I was in Japan last month for vacation, I decided to get a bottle of Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil. I will also be doing a comparison between Fancl and DHC cleansing oils.

Let's take a look...

Description

FANCL's original Perfect Blend Oil in the new Mild Cleansing Oil dissolves and removes the most stubborn makeup, eye makeup, even pore-clogging dirt and oil instantly. It is formulated with the best balance of carefully-selected oil and cleansing ingredients, it won't leave any residue. The unique Smooth Cushion Oil glides so effortlessly to wrap and remove any makeup and dirt without stripping natural oil from your skin, leaving your skin soft and moisturized.

All the ingredients listed are ranked as safe. Tocopherol is a vitamin E compound, and might be an irritant for people with acne problems.

It is good to note that this product doesn't contain any parabens.

Price

RM 115.00 / 120ml

I got mine from Japan for 1,700 yen (RM 54.00) Yikes! It's so much cheaper there!

Packaging

Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil comes in a pretty light turquoise bottle. The bottle is semi-transparent, so you're able to see the amount of product in it. You dispense the oil through the attached pump.

The bottle doesn't come with a cap, due to its long nozzle pump. It does however come with a pump safety clip to prevent leaks from accidentally pushing the pump down while travelling.

Review

Texture:
Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil has a texture that is similar to your regular oil. It isn't too thick or too runny. The oil is colorless, unlike the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil which is yellow in color.

Scent:
This product doesn't have any distinguishable smell. I don't recall associating the smell with anything. It doesn't contain any fragrance anyway.

How to use it:
This will be the first step of your double cleansing routine. Make sure your face is dry when using any sort of cleansing oil. I squeeze half a pump onto my palm for my entire face. I start by dabbing the oil onto my forehead, nose, chin and cheeks. Next, I massage the oil in circular motions using my fingers. Wet your fingers and continue massaging for another 10 seconds. This helps to emulsify the oil. When you're done, rinse it off with water and proceed with your regular foam cleanser.

Effects:
I'm not surprised by the effectiveness of the Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil. It is one of Japan's famous cleansing oils after all. It does a great job dissolving all my makeup, including waterproof eyeliners and mascaras.

Take a look at the pictures below. For this demo, I used black mascara, pencil eyeliner, brow mascara and a gel eyeliner. All of these products are waterproof.

However, there is a tiny aspect which I dislike about this cleansing oil. It isn't very gentle on my eyes. I don't usually use a separate makeup remover for my eyes. I prefer the simplicity of just using one cleansing oil product to remove all my makeup. Well, the Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil doesn't sting my eyes (I hate products which stings)... But I noticed a slight tightness on my eyelids after cleansing. I tend to be more cautious when using this product on my eyelids.

It is also very moisturizing. This product worked fine on my face and didn't cause any bad reactions or breakouts.

I came up with a comparison between Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil and DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. You can view my past review on DHC cleansing oil here

DHC: Doesn't sting, very gentle on eyelids

Final Verdict

Is this an effective cleansing oil? Yes. Would I repurchase? No. This is solely because of the tightness on my eyelids after each cleanse. I will still continue using this Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil because I've already used up one-quarter of it, but I will be going back to my beloved DHC Deep Cleansing Oil once I'm done.

It all really comes down to individual preference. I've read many great raving reviews from ladies who swear Fancl has the best cleansing oil. Perhaps the skin around my eyes are just extra sensitive? With the DHC cleansing oil, I can rub the oil over my eyelids without having to worry about feeling any discomfort. I really like doing smokey eyes with black eyeliner, so I would definitely prefer DHC over Fancl for removing eye makeup.
