Review: DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil

Double cleansing my face is an essential part of my night skincare routine. The method is to use an oil cleanser to remove makeup and dirt, followed by a gentle foam cleanser to wash away remaining impurities.

This is a review on DHC Deep Cleansing Oil.

DHC is a brand from Japan, and the Deep Cleansing Oil is one of their bestsellers.

Description

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil makeup remover completely dissolves all traces of dirt and cosmetics—even waterproof mascara and eyeliner—while nourishing your complexion with antioxidant-rich olive oil.

Ingredients

Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sorbeth-30 tetraoleate, pentylene glycol, phenoxyethanol, tocopherol, stearyl glycyrrhetinate, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil.

Here is an ingredient analysis from cosDNA - Olive oil and Vitamin E (tocopherol) are listed as low acne triggers, however I have had no breakouts so far. All the other ingredients are safe.

Packaging

Everything, including the ingredients, is written in Japanese on the DHC Deep Cleansing box. You can tell its a DHC product from the huge blue logo.

Best cleansing oil to remove makeupWritten in Japanese

The bottle inside is made of clear plastic with a pump and a cap. Nothing fancy. I definitely prefer this pump over the other type with a longer nozzle. This comes with a cap, which is great in preventing accidental leakage when travelling.

Review

There are so many things I love about this cleansing oil. It is incredibly effective at removing makeup.

The texture and consistency of the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil isn't watery or runny. It doesn't drip when its applied onto my face. It doesn't contain any artificial fragrance. It feels and smells exactly like oil.

One pump is sufficient

One pump is sufficient for my face.

If you are unfamiliar with how to use a cleansing oil:

Step 1: Make sure your face and hands are dry
Step 2: Squeeze a pump of oil onto your palms
Step 3: Apply and massage the oil onto your face
Step 4: Wet your hands and lather your face to emulsify the oil
Step 5: Rinse off with water and re-cleanse with a foam cleanser

There is no need to rub or use any strength. This cleansing oil dissolves all your makeup with ease. Below are pictures of a test I did using waterproof eyeliner and mascara.

The DHC Deep Cleansing oil is gentle on the skin around your eyes. I love that it doesn't sting. I feel a slight tightness around my eyes, but I'm fine with that. It is by far, the best remover for waterproof makeup.

Pros

  • No breakouts on my combination-oily skin
  • Effective at removing waterproof makeup
  • Doesn't sting my eyes
  • Price is inexpensive, cheaper than premium brands
  • Pump cap prevents accidental leakage when travelling
  • No parabens, mineral oil, artificial fragrance or coloring

Cons

  • Might not be suitable for acne-prone skin

Repurchase

Yes definitely! I love this product and I would really recommend this to anyone looking for an oil cleanser. Nothing can go wrong with this product. It is truly the best makeup remover. Love love love!
